RE: Donation of gently used footwear

Dear Dr. Brook,

On behalf of United Veterans Beacon House, Inc., its board of directors, staff and residents, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generous donation. We are touched and grateful for your commitment to the needs of the homeless & at-risk veteran population we are devoted to serving. The footwear you donated will be put to immediate use to serve the veterans living with us.

To afford those that come to us the best possible opportunity to become independent productive members of society we provide safe, clean, comfortable housing enhanced by intensive case management and supportive services. Part of the healing process is feeling like a valued member of the community and you certainly made our residents feel valued! Your interest in their wellbeing and comfort is greatly appreciated.

At Beacon House we not only assist those that reside with us we assist non-residents as well. We are currently aiding Veterans and their families through various job readiness and placement programs helping them successfully reintegrate upon their return from active duty. In addition, we provide assistance to those in the community through our food pantry, thrift store and medical locker.

While it is heartbreaking to think that thousands of veterans are homeless, many estranged from their families and suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injuries, we take comfort in the fact that since 1994, we have provided a voice in the system to guide these men & women; restoring their sense of self-worth and dignity.

Again, we’d like to thank you. We appreciate your belief in our work and your dedication to our nation’s heroes. Together, we are making a significant impact on the lives of Long Island’s most vulnerable residents.

Sincerely,

Frank Amalfitano
President/CEO
